KANINE KOLLEGE
Kanine Kollege is a well established dog training business where we have warm hearts for cold noses! We teach Basic obedience through AKC competition orientated-obedience. In our classes, we use mostly gentle guiding along with some occasional lure and reward. We limit the amount of treats we use by emphasizing high praise and affection. We are not training your dogs, we are training you, so you can train your dogs. Any dog can be taken by a trainer and be taught manners, what is important is that the dog listens to you. You should be able to commit to working with your dog at least 20 minutes a day outside of class, anything less is unfair to your pup. Currently we offer a Puppy Kindergarten, Basic Obedience class and Intermediate/Advanced class. Classes run for 7 weeks.
Puppy Kindergarten
Puppy Kindergarden 5:30pm-6:30PM
In this class, we will use a lot of positive reinforcement and clickers to teach your pups basic skills. There will be a puppy playtime for socialization, along with basic commands such as sit, down, stay, touch, come, settle, watch me, with me and much more. On top of being a dog trainer, I have been a vet tech for over 7 years, so I want to make sure this pups have some protection against Distemper and Parvo before entering my class. This class is reccomended for pups 12 weeks to 18 weeks (may vary depending on the breed of you dog and there maturity) that have had at least two Distemper/Parvo vaccine. Sometimes I will make an exception with the dogs age but only for smaller breeds. If you have a large breed puppy please call me before joining so we can decide which class is more appropriate. Please no aggressive puppies in the puppy class because we do have playtime, call me and we will see if the Basic class would be better for your puppy. In this class we will also talk about different essentials you need to know about owning a puppy such as house breaking, are you feeding them a good food?, and different behavior issues. Class is $110 for 7 weeks and includes a clicker, the puppy does not come the first week. Please bring yummy treat for your pup that can be broken up into small pieces and quickly eaten, nothing crunchy.
Some reccomendations for treats:
Hot dogs or Turkey dogs
Boiled hamburger or chicken
Natural balance rolls (it is a dog food but is easily cut and works great)
Bil' Jack training treats
Cheese sticks
Please do not feed your puppy's right before class
NO PUPPIES THE FIRST CLASS PLEASE

In this class each individual advances as they feel comfortable. We also work on proofing their stays by clapping, jumping etc. Several of our advanced dogs from this class have received AKC obedience and rally titles. Open drop in is available to anyone. You just pay $10 just to participate in our class and work your dog on your own for the jumps. Basically we provide the space, mats and the jumps and you work your dog as you please. At the end of the hour we do sits and downs leaving the building and will have someone there to watch the dogs. RULES AND TIPS FOR KANINE KOLLEGE
- Wear sneakers, no boots, sandals, or flip flops.
- Wear clothes you do not mind getting a little dirty
- Bring a bowl for your dog in case he/she needs water (we have water)
- Please do not let your dogs socialize with other dogs. Class should be a time of bonding between you and your dog.
- Once you get your collar and leash, your dog should come in and out of the building with it on
- Let us know if your dog's collar is getting to tight (that often happens with puppies) or becomes frayed, we will replace it for free.
- Please DO NOT feed your dogs before class, they work better without a full stomach and there is less accidents that way
- Accidents happen, especially with puppies. Please do not be embarrassed if your pup has an accident. We have a mop bucket and cleaner.
- If you think your dog needs to take a potty break mid class, do so. One of our trainers will update you upon return.
- Please call if you are not able to make a class
